My mom had a crazy idea: now that I think about it, it's more like a brilliant plan. She suggest that every year, the whole planet should shut all lights for one hour.. like a blackout, but for a purpose. This may save energy for the planet and an excuse to relax in the peaceful night. Since there's no electricity (including the street lights) there will be no traffic, no work etc. Just sit back and relax for a whole day without electricity people. BUT THEN AGAIN, LIFE HAVE NO PURPOSE WITHOUT LIGHT.
